Variant Idea - Offer two moves to your opponent and they have to pick one

Sort:
bnjboyd

You move by offering two moves to your opponent and they have to pick one.

Considerations

  • The clock would have to switch back and forth twice per move instead of just once
  • Two decisions per move
  • Really fast time controls probably not an option

What happens if you have only one legal move?

This game is already going to be a bit slower per move so maybe in that case the one legal move is offered automatically and could also optionally be accepted automatically.

Let's try to play here. I'll be White. My first two moves: e4, d4. Choose one.

Thank you for suggesting this. I like it. I was just trying to think who I could convince to try this out in life and I didn't have any good ideas.

d4

d5 or Nf6?

I won't be available much for the next two days. Slow start but I'm on board!

I think we can do it here: https://www.chess.com/daily/seek/709819019

We can duplicate this move order and keep proposing the two moves in the chat.
