The first obvious problem with the above test game is that it feels slow.
The next less obvious problem is that with pawn drops to the 1st and 2nd ranks it is always possible to setup the same pawn structure.
A very simple example is that a player could get into the bad habit of always having pawns on a1 + b2 to shut down the long diagonal.
To resolve both of these problems the rule has now been changed, a player must now deploy a pawn to the players 2nd rank on the game board.
In the beta version of the game the pawns started on 3 ranks and the pawns on the 2 ranks on the game board could not be captured by a Unit before the attacking player was fully deployed.
This beta rule was in effect because the starting position of the pawns was random and the board is very open at the start of the game, basically a player should not be forced to play defensive moves right at the start of the game.
This rule was not used during the above test game.
It is now being used with a slight modification, the random pawns now only use 2 ranks so only the pawns on the players 1st rank are protected when the attacking player is not fully deployed.
I had some problems with my public blog for the game.
I have now closed all my public blogs and I am now working on a private blog.
I am not going to publish the blog again until I have resolved this problem with google.
I am going to escalate this wee problem and make it official, I know that my blog was targeted.
This is a demo game.
The beta rules for the game can be found here: Wars
Note that the beta rules for pawn setup and pawn drops have not yet been updated.
