In the above demo game double drops were allowed on a players 1st and 2nd rank.

In this next demo game double drops are still allowed but only to a players 1st rank.

Double drops to a players second rank have been removed for the following reasons:

They are not pure drops, it is a mixture of a unit drop + a pawn jump (double step).

It gives the players too many options for drops, so what is the point of the random starting position.

When the king is very late play actively on one flank and deploy the king to the other flank.

In the first demo game the plan: Ra1 + Rd1 + Bb2 + Bc2 + d4 was very fast, it only takes 5 moves.

With the rule change the same plan can still be played but now it will take 7 moves and the Bishops will be on the squares: B1 + C1.
