Uh ok seems complicated
Why does everyone hate Battleground Chess?
I suspect a large problem is the name.
At a glance, "Battleground chess" seems so far removed from chess that you should remove "chess" from the name.
As a rule of thumb, if checkers is substantially closer to chess than your "chess varient", you should probably stop calling it one.
What does this have to do with checkers?
Uh what is Guards Union
A Union of "Guard" pieces in battleground chess which strives to uphold the wellbeing of its members. Even after so much effort to preserve their dignity, all that the maker of battleground chess has to say about them is that "they have no class"
They have no class because they do not move.

The point is that checkers is not usually understood as a chess variant, it is widely recognised as a wholly different game.
Some people may occasionally call it a chess variant, but it's clear it's on the edge of what can acceptably be called one.
"Battleground Chess", at a glance; seems much more different to chess than checkers is.
Checkers has the same board as chess. It has a similar number of board pieces to chess. Like chess, every piece can capture every other piece. Like chess, it's deterministic. Like chess, pieces promote on the final rank. Like chess, there are no area of effect attacks.
It doesn't share any pieces with chess, but neither does your game.
It feels like checkers is quite a bit closer to chess than your game is.
If checkers is on the edge of what is maybe called a "chess variant", I think you should stop calling your game one.

That depends on who is glancing. With your glance, monopoly resembles stratego and tic tac toe resembles table tennis.

Same with Battleground Chess because it's complicated and lots of people like simple stuff

Okay, what are your reasons Battleground resembles chess more than checkers does?

I don't care about them anymore.
