Wrong number of pieces in new games

I started new games and I see 8 kings + 16 pieces for each player. Is this right…

It's a tournament with a Custom Position.
When I tried to play any piece it won't submit move. And I don't get an idea of 8 kings ?

It's not a legal position and apparently the code won't allow moves to be played.
I reported the event sincd it seems like a bug that allowed an illegal position to get created in an event.
