Amazons

Evening all. 

I've gone through a period of experimenting with other Abstract Strategy Games, for example, Go, the Kalah family of games, Abalone etc. My favourite thus far is a cracking game called Amazons: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_of_the_Amazons

It uses, essentially, eight Queens (the Amazons), four vs. four, and is, I think, an intuitive game for the chess player. It's entirely about territory. It's elegant and simple. It has extremely limited tactics, and thus is almost entirely a game of strategy. It is mysterious, since it has not been explored to the nth degree by computers, so, for example, I don't have a clue what even a decent opening idea might be. The trouble is, nobody plays it!
