When playing or watching live chess in a browser, other than by turning the sound off, how do I change the annoying double sound (tap, tap) when a move is made to a single sound (tap).

If you are playing on browser, here is the problem. You have another tab open, and since games sync, the sounds double up. So close the tab and sound is gone. Bro how did this go unanswered for 11 years??

If you think you have one tab open, the other tab is likely in an other window, and your setting choice can make it open another window, so you may not see the tab creating the noise.

This issue lasts forever I guess. Extremely annoying!

Please remove the double sound, when moving the piece. -- Thank you.

Hello everyone.

This happens sporadically when opening several tabs at the same time. We advise not keeping too many tabs at once to prevent it.

In case you are still experiencing this while not having a lot of tabs open, please reach out at https://www.chess.com/support our Support team will be happy to assist you with verifying and solving this issue.

This is so annoying. Everytime I use game anlyisis it opens a new tab. This creates the problem. Either fix it, or run game analysis in the same tab...

There so many webpage programmer bugs at chess.com, some maybe caused by the tons of ad videos they spam your browser with, but this one seems like it must be so simple to fix, especially for a company that gets $400M a year. The double piece move sound effect means I have to quit the game because even if you turn off the sound, it appears you're losing time on your clock while the second piece move signal is being sent by their servers, about half a second every move. It's always fixable if I clear the browser memory and reload the page a couple of times, but quitting games like that gets you mean messages and ban threats. The commenter I quoted suggested using a different chess site, but oddly there isn't any except Hans Niemann's EndGame site but you only get a few games an hour there, not enough Bullet games for a good workout.
