I figured it was a tactical move to open up the file for your rook.

Yes, it should come in handy a little later on, just not what I had in mind at the moment tongue.png

From d6, that's a knight move.

Also, if Cb5 were allowed, it would be a blunder.

Yeah, never mind. 21... Na5

captaintugwash

Aw, bye bye mice. You used yours more than I did.

There's a really interesting dynamic with the cat I hadn't noticed until now... it's restricted to one colour square until it captures on the alternate colour square.

That probably makes it weaker than a knight once the mice are gone.

captaintugwash

It's probably a stronger defensive piece though thanks to its ability to capture like a king. They might be balanced pieces.

22... Cxd5

Yeah, I think your right. I think it's a better defensive piece than the knight... It really is a great piece design, and pairing it with the mouse just makes it that much better!

Thanks, and also thanks for playing me, I'm happy to be playing a variant of chess I desinged (whether original or not).

Your welcome! This is a great variant, worth replaying. I hope it doesn't just disappear after this first game...

captaintugwash

Aw I was hoping for h6 so I could play Nxi4.

And I would be down with a rematch after with you being white.
