Hello! My name is Valery Bannykh, an architect, I live in Russia.

I have developed a new version of chess, called chesston.

I do not speak English, so I used an interpreter from Google

Rules of the game

Board 9 * 8, to the traditional 8 * 8 is added the vertical "I".

To the standard figures is added a figure prince and pawn. The prince is put on the vertical "G". The prince walks like a king and an bishop.

Castling is the same in both directions: the king is placed next to the rook, the rook is placed on the next to the king's cage on the other side of the king.

Below are some more options for the game that I developed in the process of work.

The game was created in January 2017. Before that, I studied almost all the chessboards created for the history of chess. Having tried different variants, I realized that on exotic boards of irregular shape no one will play.

I began to study large rectangular boards (10 * 8, 10 * 10, 12 * 12). Quickly realized that large boards have an excessive number of shapes and fields. The game becomes a long one, the moves of the figures are very difficult to calculate. There are also other problems that are revealed during the game.

So I added just one vertical to the standard 8 * 8 board, getting the board 9 * 8. I began to study this board, what opportunities it provides. I invented figures with various moves, up to the most bizarre. Arranged them in the most incredible ways on the board. In the process, I realized that I needed a figure with fairly simple, understandable moves, also having the ability to protect pawns in front of me in the starting position. It should be weaker than the queen, to give more opportunities for the game, because the whole game is built on the known weaknesses of the figures. In fact, the prince is a weakened queen. After many experiments, I came up with the final version of the game.

The prince can not stand next to the king, otherwise two single-headed Bishop are obtained. Someone might say: the starting position is not symmetrical. So in classical chess it is also not symmetrical with respect to the king, the flanks have different strengths, and everyone is used to it. In the game chesston the power of the flanks is balanced, victory in the debut is unlikely. And it's better to play after all, but not to admire the initial position 😉

So it has the moves of a rook, and some of the moves of a queen, that would make it worth about seven points, would you like to play a practice game?

The main option: the king +bishop. But other options are possible, which I indicated.
