I more like the name of Guard to your Library piece. This name was mentioned by Vick in his Bulldog Chess Variant, and we also used it in Griffin Chess.
Guard is a common pieces name in battle field.But we must remember that the main reason for this pieces being rised is to overcome draws in chess.So,this new pieces should have a special role for that purposes.One that come to mind is this pieces must be capable to give a distinguished advantage for a player over their opponent even for a small advantage.In the king and pawn end game,this small advantage was given by a square position ahead of a king piece over opponent's king.In real life,the advantage must be done by information domination.From this reason then the book pieces emerge.
It is ok for every variant to have their own uniqueness.
