I think most people, including myself, are having a hard time understanding what we're looking at here; and what kind of "nice problems" we're supposed to be posting.

Can you please clarify and elaborate?

OK, I'll bite. The following Chu-Shogi tsume problem was of interest to me because the solution given in the historic 17th-century manuscript from which it comes was wrong, and in fact already spoils the mate in the first move (f12 x f11). I found the correct solution, which was a mate in 16. (There is the additional requirement in these kind of problems that every move must be a check, which makes such a deep mate much less daunting than when you have to consider all silent moves as well.)

The solution I found is:

1. i12-h12, Kg9 {the King has to stay away from the diagonal e12-l5, because white otherwise can involce the Queen on b5 with check, after which it is over very quickly} 2. k9xj10-i11 {double-move of the Lion, hit and run} i10xi11 {captures the checking Lion} 3. h12xi11 Kg8 4. i11xi6 {check with the 'evil eye' move of the Eagle, which can capture Pawn + King together in one move} Kf7 5. f3-d5 {check through the jumping move} Ke8 6. i6-c6 {check through the other evil eye} Kd9 7. d5-f7 {again check with the jump move} Kc10 8. c6xd7-e8 {removes the black piece 'en-passant' so e8 is no longer defeded} Kb11 9. f7-d9 {this piece could have promoted to Queen here, but then black could have interposed something to block the check, and promotion is not mandatory} Kb12 10. f12xd12 d11xd12 11. a9xd12 Ka11 12. d9xf11=Q {once unpromoted in the zone, promotion is only allowed on a capture, but you make one here} d10-d11 {throws itself in the checking path for some pointless delay} 13. Qxd11 Bc11 {idem} 14. d12xc11 Qxc11 15. Qxc11 Ka12 16. e8-c10#.
