Question (960 random):

Is it generally bad or good to put knights on 3rd rank in front of pawns on 2nd rank during opening?

Example:

(... just looking into games of players with as high ratings as possible)

4. Nd3 blocking the d-pawn

Does anybody have a clear opinion or clear examples?

One of my 960 opening "rules" is to avoid placing a piece in front of one of my undeveloped center pawns.

But my first rule is to ignore any other rule when I see a clear reason to do so.
