Lightning chess
New pieces and rules:
Backwards pawn:
Represented by a upside-down pawn
Moves diagonally up a square and captures directly forward
It can move two squares diagonally it's first turn
Guard:
Represented by shield
Moves and captures like a king but is not affected by check
My friend @vickalan made this piece
Archer:
Represented by bow and arrow
It moves like this
The dots indicate where it can capture, the x's indicate where it can hop(like a knight)
It does not move while capturing
Lightning:
Represented by lightning cloud
It moves like a king, when it captures it explodes destroying itself and all other pieces around it(friend and foe)
No en-passant
Wow, pretty amazing. I like the lightning. It's a multiple capture piece. That's something I would like to try sometime. Since it captures both friend and foe in one move, the material calculation during a capture could be interesting.
Good graphics too - I like the gold color on black especially.![]()

Notation is the same as regular chess except the coordinates have parentheses around them.
backwards pawn=BP
pawn=P
archer=A
guard=G
lightning=L
rook=R
knight=N
bishop=B
queen=Q
king=K
ex.
an archer moving to j10 would be A(j,10).
