960 on blitz or bulet will be the best option
I would probably take up blitz. The random order levels the playing field quickly. I think that bullet is a contest of reflexs and equipment more than chess skill.
My friends, what you are looking for is called chesscube, hell there's even chess960 tournaments!
I tried and it's not working for me =(, but even so, adding chess960 would improve the website

LIVE 960 was talked about last year during a Chess.com/TV episode which was shot at Chess.com HQ. I think it's in the works along with bughouse. Only time will tell.

ChessMarkstheSpot,
Do you know if any enhancements to online chess960 tournaments was mentioned? For example, in tournaments instead of having every single round of the tournament having the same setup - it would be nice to have every round with a new random setup. That seems to be more in the spirit of 960 (at least imo).

I agree with this notion also. I don't think it is fair to have someone be able to sit back and take advantage of others misfortunes. Another way to put it, perhaps better is, why should someone in the same tournament have the advantage of someone else doing all the work, hence showing them the best lines to play? Or what not to play.
If it is a live tourney, it would almost give someone the use of an analysis board and the ability to somehow see what the game is going to be like ahead of time. For me, the results of that remind me too much of what happens when, someone can cheat at something.I like the idea of every game being as different as possible to avoid this potential problem.

It would be great to hear from any staffers if this is just a wild dream, or something that is actually gonna be happening in the near future. In order to compete with chesscube, and keep chess.com the best chess site, I think it is a neccesity.

If you want to compete with chesscube, you should probably work on some sweet tournaments too, warzone is the funnest thing ever.

It does seem like live chess960 is on the to-do list. See post #8 here.

I would love there to be Live 960, I think 960 is a growing phenomena and it would serve Chess.com well to be providing it as a live option.
i dont understand why 960 isn't live, and why there aren't other live chess variants. when I was a kid I played on ICC and they had plenty of live chess variants you could play, including bughouse and a mode where your opponents pieces were completly invisible.

Could you be so kind as to explain bughouse?
Could you be so kind as to explain bughouse?
2v2 chess, timed, sit next to your partner playing opposite colors against the opposing team, you may drop a piece captured by your partner in an open square instead of moving one on the board, team wins if either player wins on time or checkmate.
Tends to be fast paced, less dependent on openings, and puts more value on knights since they are an unblockable when dropped for check.
