Minor rule change to avoid draw

Would have to be. This draw rule favors the higher rated player so the opponent can play brilliant as black and then it's who gets checked first?!

Black just got handicapped to suit time.  Don't play if you don't have time.

Stalemate means win if there has been a check

Ok, that makes sense. So the only "normal" draw would be no checks in a game, which then ends in stalemate. There might be other peculiar draws, like no checks, then 3-fold repetition, then 50 moves with no progress and no checks.

I highly disagree with this rule...

One of my favorite openings  is the King's Gambit

which will now be obselete due to 2. ...Qh4+

It seems to me this should make a large difference with orthodox Chess during the entire game. Normally about 32% of games between equal players ends in a draw. Being the first to deliver check turns these into wins, i.e. you would win 66% of the games. This is nearly as much as the advantage of Pawn odds. So a (first) check early in the game is worth nearly a full Pawn. That would make it a major concern not to get checked.

I thought of another way to change chess in a very subtle way:

Now we give White not two, but four ways to castle:

And similarly for Black.

Just like chess 960 this adds yet unexplored lines to opening theory.

It's almost normal chess from the normal starting position, but you get 4 ways of castling.

- classic 0-0

- classic 0-0-0

- altered 0-0 (King ends on f Rook on e)

- altered 0-0-0 (King ends on b Rook on c)

All other rules and pieces same as FIDE chess
