New Chess Variant... Actually, More Like A Variant Of A Variant

If you can capture your teammate's pieces and play with communication allowed, then there are probably very complex and exciting tactical moments. 😬

This also implies that the two team members have to find a consensus. And if this is not possible, every player has to play the way he thinks is right. There is no team leader and I find this concept very exciting.

Ok, I agree. I would be more happy with a "slow" well-played game, than a game with inaccurate moves. Teammates helping each other could be a good thing.
Also, our plans to allow castling (like Luke_Hands discussed) is a great idea. There's two cool things about it:
1) Castling is the only move where you move both one of your own pieces (king), and your teammate's piece (the rook).
2) Castling your king with your teammate's rook brings the two kings near each other! This could be so interesting, especially if the kings are attacked and have to start defending for each other! One can die but the other cannot!
(For absolute clarity, I should also say castling is a king move. So you can only castle your king, with the possible rook of teammate. You can't castle your teammates king even if it is with your own rook).
(I'm out for the rest of today, but will be back later).

Ok then, Want me to make a separate forum for the game?
Not yet, unless you are able to take the color pieces and populate the entire board with the starting position. I have a new empty board I'd like to use - all squares have better resolution and are exactly square so it is easier to stitch (in case we need to enlarge the board).
I can probably do it on Saturday morning (2 days away). Unless you'd like to do sooner. I can send you blank board if you'd like.
The Super Bowl is Sunday, February 4. Our chess-Super Bowl can start about one week before (Saturday, January 27). Is that ok?

Thanks Martin0! I'm not sure how you did that, but it looks perfect.
I have the blank board, and added just a few pieces in their starting position. I also scaled down the pieces so they match the size of this board. Both files are here. Luke_Hands, will you finish populating the board?
pieces:

fyi: not sure if everyone's system is the same, but I can magnify my view by "Ctrl" and using the mouse thumbwheel. I'll probably be doing that a lot in this game.

Looks good so far, except the pieces on the outside files (files -1, and 10) should be rooks, not bishops. Every army should look like this:
If you finish green and yellow then I can finish blue and red. We also need a name for this game. Is there anything better than just calling it "4-player infinite chess"?
