still closed. I waited and hit new game five times every 10 sec. Still closed by peer. So I connected to letstryagain1. I am connected.
New chess variant. Looking for players to play with.

I keep new game every ten sec. then hitting machine white to make me black again. Are you getting any messages?

See told you it was timing. If you would have simply did it over the phone or messaged me quickly. I would have gotten it to work the first try. Yet the way you wanted to do it. Waiting 2-3minutes to even reply, if you reply at all. Would never work. Just like I said. Because we would have never did the right thing. Then wait for the other.
After you change the time. I connected with this setting for both. One person connects then hit new game. You can't touch anything till I connect. If you get a message saying I want to play a game in the way I want. Because we both hit new game. Which made us both the same color. The one with the message to change. (second one to hit new game.) Which would be me in this example. must hit machine white, while the other don't touch or change anything. Then after he my move. If he moves before I'm in the game. You get connection closed by peer. So timly comunication is important.
I had my neighbor, on her labtop, download, unzip, set nick name, engine to the p2p.exe and comand parameters to winboard.nl
Hit ok. Reload load engine I just set.
Hit engine #1 settings...Set passward to 1357 then connected. Gave messaege saying time was wrong. Even tho both were the same. So I did not touch my PC. With the labtop I went to new game then time control. Which was what I wanted. So I just hit ok. Then new game then machine white. giving a message to me on my PC they wanted to play the 99 sec per move as black. I opened time control on the PC which was already were I wanted it. Hit OK then new game. Then move a piece on the labtop. It moved on my PC. Moved on PC, it moved on labtop. The entire download, setup, and connecting. Took me under 5min to do. That is why I said to simply call me. Skype or PS3 video chat would work even better. Hence why setting up with my friend in Cali a year ago was so easy. When he can't even use E-mail he's so bad with a PC> Because I could talk him through it. While actually knowing what he was doning.
It won't say when we connect.(or at least I did not notice it) Just if we try and the setting say they don't match . You just move white and it moves on my screen when connected. Yet if not connected and you move I'm locked out till you disconnect and connect again or we change the pass and try again.

I am connected on pas 123456 machine whie at
Change time settings before connecting. Connect hit new game then move.

I hope you don't mind, but I don't want to do this today. I'll be glad to try again sometime this week. I think I understand your explanation, and I will try set up a game against myself to make sure I can do it right.

Better, Ace. Much better.
This game is really fun! It adds a new dimensionality to chess!
The game I'm playing so far:
(once again, it's me against myself! Black is at a slight advantage right now, because white lunkheadedly loss Cougerhead in a silly blunder. =\)

still trying to figure how to paste that into winboard to see it. I am curious to see. Just don't want to do it manualy. I'll try again.

It will be very hard to paste that in WinBoard, because it is completely messed up: it is posted here in 3 columns, and counting vertically instead of horizontally. So the first line of the posted game contains move 1, 21 and 41. So if you copy-paste it to WinBoard, it will see move 21 as the second move, and of course complain it is illegal. WinBoard is pretty smart at recognizing Chess games, but it will not re-ordermoves...
If BattleChess wants to post a game so that others can read it, he should publish the game here in PGN format, such as WinBoard provides it (when you hit Edit -> Copy Game to Clipboard).
Btw, to test you don't really need your neighbors laptop; you can start WinBoard twice on your own computer (and use Alt-Tab to switch between the two if your screen is to small to lay them out side by side). This is how I tested it.
If you connect to the winboard.nl relay server, and your opponent with the matching password is not there, and does not arrive shortly after, you will get disconnected after some time. This will cause the 'connection closed by peer' message.

I originally did that, but I thought it looked too messy. So, I decided to organize it in a presentable fashion. Haha
Now, Ace, just to remind, this was the game that happened on page 8. This is the configuration before you made two more adjustments. (The fix to the cobra, and then the last update on page 9.)

I will be posting that youtube video with some analysis too, so stay put! =)
Also, Ace, I sent you a PM, but you didn't respond. I'm assuming you don't approve it? =\
Well, it is fine if you want to improve the layout, as long as the moves can still be read horizontally. (E.g. replacing all spaces in the PGN by Tabs.) Because that is how they appear in the text that is transferred when someone selects the table and copies it to clipboard. In this case the game could in theory be reconstructed because the moves still occured in pairs labeled by move numbers, but WinBoard is not so smart as to attempt that. This could be a suggestion for a next release: re-order garbled input by move number...

I just read your message and replied. I would be sad if your's gains more popularity. Considering how much effort I put into mine. I was going to make a new thread. Now that this is finally finished. If you could link to both. I would appreciate it.

Thanks for reading it, Ace. I will get back to you when the board set up is done.
Also, both our versions are wonderful. Hey, you've already gained the support of more than 6 people, two of whom actually wanted to play your game on Winboard! I think that says a lot about this game's success.
Anyways, my 2nd game against myself: (Again, this is based on the version before you updated the Snake piece; pg. 8)

White is checkmated by the Queen.
Next folk to duel: LXIVC. If he/she accepts. ^-^
OK, I made a first attempt to configure my new Chess-variants applet web page for Alpha-Omega Chess. My first attempt is here.
Some things were not clear to me; your move definitions were a bit 'unclean', several moves being mentioned in duplicat. The King's Gambit had e.p. capture amongst its moves, but your drawings don't mention anywhere it can do that, so I deleted that together with the other Pawn moves that were already incorporated in the main move.
The applet still has the same problems as we initially had with WinBoard: 'guardng' and e.p. capture. Currently a Q move that can be guarding will automatically be performed as guarding, although it can of course always be a perfectly legal move of the Queen alone. E.p. capture is now not flagged as possible at all; I would have to overhaul the e.p. logic for that, to allow multiple e.p. squares.
Despite these shortcomings the applet is usable, because it does not enforce legality, and not even turn order. So you can make multiple moves before pressing 'play move', including moving opponent pieces. So if a Q move leads to unwanted displacement of a Rook, just move the Rook back before you press 'Play Move', in a remote game. (If you want the reverse, delete the 'isO3' from the Q move before you start playing; then it will never 'guard' (but also not indicate that you can), and you can move the Rook by hand when you wanted to.) And to perform e.p. capture, first capture the Pawn on the square where it is, and then move the Pawn to where it should end up.
This is my last try if you take forever to reply, or just don't reply till I write ten messages. I'm done. Connection is closed by peer. Hit new game and do not move.
