Is the poster upset because he carries a low rating, or because that guy carries a high one?

After a bit of messing about in the opening chess960 is the same as standard chess.

Yes, in blitz ( OTB ) it definitely holds true. I have not lost to a sub 1600 in more than 25 years in blitz nor otb classic chess. I first went over 2200 in 1984.
