Racist Chess

Great! I will be back in a couple of weeks and will be able to play live chess.

Knights clog up the rooks, and they cannot move - correct. Rooks will have to get out via a7-a5-Ra8-Ra6.

Pawns can move both squares on their first move and then will have to start capturing.

Knights, pawns, and one of the bishops would all have some trouble moving.

@Krenzinator, bishops would be fine if you used the second variant. 

Capablanca thought chess had become to easy, so he proposed a 9 Sq board , with a new piece. this would make a N move for the first part, then along the diagonal like a B   There must be some reason it hasn"t caught on ???

I had previously heard of Capa's idea, and i thought i heard the problem was that a 9 square board winds up with the same color square in each corner, therefore making one Bishop much stronger than the other.  10 square would work better.  How about a piece that makes half an N?  it could be like a bishop, rook, and a knight had a crazy baby! Like the Knight, it would be limited to 3 squares of movement, but must move 3, and its first move would have to be a diagonal move, insuring that each piece stays on its color, like a Bishop.  the next 2 moves would have to be "rank and file" square moves, meaning it has to move like a Rook, again insuring it stays on its color.  I think it could work!

edit:  it could also move like a rook the first 2 squares, and then diagonal 1 square, keeping it on same color.  then it could also be like a knight and be able to jump pieces to move, or, if that makes it too powerful, make it like the rook and bishop, and it can be blocked in.(i kinda like the ability to jump better, since the piece is held to just 3 squares of movement.)  Also, these new pieces would be stationed by the King and Queen, allowing the Bishops and Knights sililar starting abilities, and keeping fianchettos working properly!..  the more i think about it, the more i like it!!!
