@Martin0 has defended his championship crown, in a spectacular game against @JohnHS, winning in 27 moves. Martin0 is now the two-time defending World Champion, with previous big wins against @JunyJunebug to earn the title (a 16 move game), and later also defeating me (a 32 move game).

Martin0 appears to be invincible, and there are no active qualified contenders, as all players with a level-2 win have already challenged Martin0 and lost. To issue a new challenge against Martin0, either a new player needs to achieve a level-2 win, or JohnHS or myself need to improve their scores before challenging Martin0 again. Player elos have been updated, and a screenshot of the chart is here:

The race is on - who can qualify next to challenge Martin0?!!! Then win against him???

In other news:

The first-ever 4-player bulldog chess game was completed yesterday. @Martin0 and @Luke_Hands defeated @hitthepin and @vickalan in a game featuring rooks and queens which developed quickly creating a surprising checkmate in the 11th round (the 42nd ply of the game). I was on the losing team. But the game was fun!

Isn't @Derrickzhou qualified after winning against @Donkey256?

Yes, you're right. I didn't completely check the records. Donkey256 won a game against Menamedwert on October 2 last year. And Derrickzhou won a game against Donkey, so Derrickzhou has a level-2 win. He can challenge you. Thanks for pointing that out. (maybe I'll send him a message).

I also notice you broke 1500. We need some more 1300 players to challenge you. That's my goal.

Eventually someone is going to steal the crown from @Martin0. My plan (for later) is to post some messages in the General Forum and ask who is the best (normal) chess-player on these forums at long time-control. We'll see if a current "classical" chess master can bring their skills here to defeat Martin0. But we can let Martin0 enjoy his crown for a few months - he deserves it.😄

2 more months, and the bulldog nightmare (lol) will return to sweep the board!

I noticed that game, and I'll post a message there later today. It was an impressive game, and you will get a medal for being an "awesome competitor" and @evert823 for a "great win".

Btw, it's significant for a big reason: Last year evert was eliminated in the tournament in a surprise win by friedmelon. (JunyJunebug later defeated friedmelon becoming the first bulldog World Champion). But with this game, evert823 has now improved his score. This means evert823 is a "tier-3" player, and has risen to a level which qualifies him to challenge the current World Champion, Martin0.

I'll message evert823 to see if he is interested in playing against @Martin0. (Martin0 would have the right to finish at least one existing game before a contest starts).

But if evert makes a challenge it's going to be a BIG GAME! Evert is one of the early players of bulldog (even making the witch's rules) and has established a strong reputation in the game. Martin0 has been in the field for shorter time, but has a record that makes him appear invincible. And this game comes at a time when some people were wondering if there is anyone that can even challenge Martin0! Look for updates here by either evert or me.

Also, @hitthepin: You are a notable player for a big reason: You are the bulldog player who lost a game allowing evert823 to challenge the World Champion.😋
