1200's Black or White

Its the age old question. Which is better black, or white? Just when people think they've got it figured out a player comes a long and ruins their thesis. Im not going to get into anything that deep because I have no idea of the answer. However one thing that I really dislike is playing 1200's. I dislike this because as white you have no idea if you chould try the four move checkmate or if you are going to have to analyze every move with a microscope. However one thing I have noticed is that I actually don't mind playing against someone rated 1200 as long as I have black. This way it is easy for me to let them lead and then depending on their skill level decide how aggresively i'm going to play. Have any thoughts? Just write 'em below.

this is very interesting,  however, choosing black would be my choice also that way as you stated one is able to dtermine how aggressive one needs tobe, or how cautious, good thinking.

I'd suggest throwing your scholar's mate out the window altogether, and treat each game seriously.

You'll still be able to easily beat weaker players, and won't put yourself out of position against stronger players.

Take the advice that you should always assume your opponent will make the best move. The higher your expectations for your opponent's skill, the less mistakes you will make. (generally) But never play based on the assumption that your opponent will blunder, because that leads to losses.
