2026

Another year is now in the books;
More sorrow, disease, more hatred, more crooks;
Peace and accord, they seem almost gone;
Every new day the battle lines drawn;
I agree with 99 but hate you for the one;
Me, a pacifist, and you grab your gun;
How the hell did we get to this state:
War and famine lay corpse to the crate;
Fight over gender, fight over race;
Fight over who is a bigger disgrace;
Mistrust and twist every single kind gesture;
Say not a word, just let it all fester;
The tension grows 'til the lid blows asunder;
Then the violence begins and the guns roar like thunder;
Funerals and vigils and sermons galore;
But both sides want only to even the score;
Where are we headed?  How will this end?
Is it too late now, or still time to mend?
The jury is out, there's no way to know;
But we must start now, for friendships to grow;
So look all around you, take it all in;
Assess your surroundings, that's where to begin;
One act of kindness can set it in motion;
Like dominoes falling, ocean to ocean;
Pay it all forward, a force multiplier;
Flames of love will grow higher and higher;
We all do this now, there might be a fix;
Cause don't look now, but it's 2026.
