does vapid encouragement really help the majority of people? does telling random people you matter actually convince them?
i seriously wonder and not trolling. It always seemed to me a well intentioned but vacuous gesture. sometimes even done to virtue signal (although i dont think thats the case here).
It's hard to give a definite answer since everyone's situation varies. Though to answer your question, I'd have to go with "yes," it would help someone by simply telling them that they matter, etc.

Yeah, I admit, that was wrong for me to say, and yeah, it was wrong, though what was his reason for being "Depressed"? He said "IDK" but yeah, for other things, as of a family member dying, heartbreak, break, etc, I'm not going to be like that. Though if someone's saying "I'm depressed because I had to do laundry" or "I'm depressed because my favorite character died" obviously they shouldn't be even trying to attempt to act "depressed, etc."
