not all fit under the same cover storm , me i have not once tried to find out the opponents username , it is not my buisness , it is between the players and cc staf , as wrong accusations can cause more trouble than the initial problem

StormCentre3

Sure. I too am not interested. Could care less. But what do we see? Quite the opposite.

It was a private matter - made glaringly public.
It can be easily assumed such threads are not really overly concerned about the common accusations of cheating. They occur almost at every turn. The OP simply wanted to vent and complain. It’s understandable for new players.

all pile on happens , im no fan of it , i do my own thing ,

So you're "seriously offended" over an accusation from someone you don't know, regarding something you didn't do?

What someone thinks about me is the least of my concerns. Only thing I wasn't sure about was how serious this report would be taken by moderators. I didn't wanna lose my account or the subscription I paid for.

Quite pathetic. We’ve all been there … seen and experienced bad sports. It goes with the territory. With the influx of new younger players and the anonymity the internet provides- sure… such situations occur more frequently.

What’s rather pathetic- on top of this are these typical threads- “ I don’t mean to be negative nor to bad mouth”  But let me tell of a really poor sport who treated me unfairly ! A serious offense. I’m offended ! 😵‍💫

Obviously it’s about negative attention seeking … about themselves “how dare someone treat me in such a manner”.
Repeating stories about poor sportsmanship is being negative. Plain and simple. To be positive would entail suggestions on how to avoid or ignore bad behaviors. Instead we saw the OP exacerbate the situation with further argument and name calling.

I don't know how often this happens here cause I only joined this platform about a month ago. But U sure as hell are best suited to talk about the positivity & and being a model sportsman when you yourself only adapted an inverse angle about my post; especially when you "don’t mean to be negative nor to bad mouth"

Only concern I showed was about losing my account or subscription & I kept the opponent anonymous as well.

From what I know, the staff members have their tools to check out if you're using an engine or stuff like that. They'll take the report seriously but wouldn't close your account on a pure accusation unless they're sure you're cheating.

flamewars solve little , they do however cause alot of friction , and yet all it needs to douse the fire is to give the benefit of the doubt . storm makes valid points too , this is a common thread thing , however im willing to give op benefit of the doubt ie this is something that they have never experienced before , or often ,

can we just agree that ?

Exactly my point. I posted because this was the first time something like this happened to me. & I was afraid I could lose my account

He's new to the community like he said in the OP. He doesn't know how to deal with this type of stuff yet. Instead of slandering him, let's actually explain things and encourage him to continue to be in this community. The amount of hate in this thread is appalling. Grow up

Finally, a grown up has entered the chat.
Thank you @LazyDog24
I only joined chess.com last month. I didn't know it was a very common issue. Had I know, I wouldn't have posted about this. I was afraid I could lose my subscription

Yes. Perhaps I reacted rather hastily in assuming the OP was seeking attention. We see the behavior far too often- the repetition of negative behavior by copy/paste with OP’s making statement they themselves are not being negative by pointing out bad sportsmanship. Perhaps he’s new and has not thought things out- was taken aback and became disappointed. I apologize in such a case. I think in most cases such threads are made knowingly- posters repeat bad behavior with a qualification when the intent is rather obvious- to spread further negative discourse. In this case it does appear by the OP’s profile he’s rather new to internet chess - and was rather oblivious to such shenanigans.

Exactly, as I said before, I just recently joined. I didn't it was a common thing or I wouldn't have posed at all. I was only worried about my account. Thanks for realizing that, much appreciated.

I don't mean to out anybody or spread negativity. This has never been me. I always try to seek out positive aspects no matter what the situation is. Up until today I had a wonderful experience with chess.com community. People are always so helping. One guy @KeSetoKaiba (with much more experience & 2000+ rapid rating) went as far to play some unrated matches with me so that he could analyze my games and give me some tips. It meant a great deal to me. Shout out to this !!!!
& then there's this guy, who reported my account right away without giving it a second thought just because he thought I was using some kind of engine. Which I don't even know how I can use. I will not mention this guy's profile, but this individual seriously offended me. & if I lose my account/subscription to this sore loser, it would be really unfair

Kowarenai

it will be alright ok? just try to not stress about it as it only makes you feel worse

TheHarbingerOfDoom
Naming and shaming might be frowned upon. But if a muppet is going to make unfounded accusations just because he lost maybe he should be shamed. People need to learn to take responsibility when they open their trap.
StormCentre3

Worried about having an account banned over a false accusation of cheating ? If such things were to happen - staff credibility would be at an all time low. The site could not possibly survive. The % of cheaters banned is very low - it’s a near impossible task to make such determinations at the lower rating levels- but one thing is certain. Staff is not influenced nor swayed by all the false reports. Site policies almost invites this false reporting behavior - but that’s a different issue.

StormCentre3

Yes. I agree. Action should be forthright regarding all the false reporting. But it is not for many self serving reasons.

Looking at the image. If he took more time to move, then it wouldn’t be an engine……
