Abandoned Game

Sort:

Several times recently I have been about to beat my opponent, and they stop playing. The only way for me to win is to wait for the clock to run out, sometimes quite a bit of time. Otherwise I have to resign, giving them the points. Is there any way to stop this? It is really annoying and frustrating, and the sign of a very poor sport. Thanks!

If they abandon the game, they will get flagged by the Fair Play Policy. After doing that enough, they will mainly get paired with other people that do the same thing.

Is there a way to alert someone that they have abandoned the game? How do they get flagged? And is there a way to do something in the moment? The last person had a much higher ranking than they deserved based on their play, so I am assuming they do it often and their opponents simply resign rather than wait for the time to run out.

You just have to wait until the disconnect time is met, which should be 3 minutes. Or if they just stay logged in, you have to wait. There used to be a max move timer but that was removed at one point.

I sometimes get into game and get an advantage just to have the game stop and seemingly auto-abort. I suspect my opponent is causing the aborted game but I have no idea how.
