I've reported two people recently for verbal abuse, they were both banned.

I ran in to few that I blocked after they stalled especially when they can mate me.  Since I am a sub 1000 player you don't know how many games that I won/draw by playing through. Verbal abuse is definitely a reportable offense.

Unfortunately, unless they time out, that's the time selection. I understand what you mean though. I apologize for the frustration. This might be better suited below, we have a special forum/club dedicated to discussing matters like this. happy.png

Not strictly cheating either! but remember even in there Leave User ID's out of public is the main thing we ask in The Cheating Forum.

Raising emotions in your opponent, is a minor win that can lead to a major win.

Nothing done within the boundaries of rules, should, ever, raise the smallest emotion in you.

Two examples:

Tony Miles defeated Anatoly Karpov in 1980, by raising the emotion of offended indignation, induced by the reply 1...-a6 to Karpov's 1.e4. Karpov misplayed and lost.

Bobby Fischer, in 1970, had his opponent resign by simply playing 1.c4, a move he never played before, when his opponent, Oscar Panno, worked so hard to prepare defense against Fischer's usual 1.e4, he could not overcome disgust and discouragement, and resigned without playing a move.

Just take it for granted, once and for all, your opponent will do and try everything and anything, in order to avoid or delay a defeat. That's all you need to do so you can play with peace in your heart.

Very well said Tonya. I was typing a similar message you beat me to it!

You were playing a 10 year old. Let him time out and then block him.

"Anything and everything"??  Really?  No limits?  Force you to sit there for 10 minutes in the hopes that your internet connection goes down?  Try to distract you with vulgarity?  Use an engine?  There are always sportsmanship rules, and I think if it gets you kicked out of an OTB tournament, it should get you kicked out of chess.com too (or at least warned and suspended for a while).  Some players need to be taught to play fair.

Ok.  I'm curious, is there an actual rule against stalling when you're about to lose?

Chess is just like other online video games, all walks of life are playing.. I would dare say that it’s the most popular video game I the world!! It’s no wonder that there are so many sore losers out there.  Even chess’s peers (fortnite/ league of legends) have less players.  Hope this puts things in Perspective.
