Accused of cheating!!!

So Today I played this game vs a user (who shall remain anonymouse) who, after being checkmated said to me that I was using a computer to make my moves, I said he played a bad game and was a sore loser.

Looking at this poorly played game (by mysefl) which do you think is more likely? Me a master level computer using my technology to advance to the incredible rating of 1330....or he lost and was being a baby.

I tried to insert a diagram like in my last thread but I did not see where to insert the moves, I followed the same steps as I did last time and there was simply no option to.

kohai

You mean this game kupov ?

Niven42

What a nicely handled game.  You played pretty good...

He made so many mistakes; what was his rating?  I wouldn't worry too much about the cheating accusation...  computer analysis would back you up - that he just played really bad.

semisibeastie

lol dosent seem like u used a computer. your moves were thought out 1 or 2 steps ahead. a computer thinks a game out after every move. CLEARLY u didnt use a computer. yes i agree he/she was a sore loser.

Sigh. Yet another "engine" accusation. It seems the latest thing is to, when losing/lost, blame the opponent of using an engine.

To Kupov: don't worry about it. Some people are, and will remain, sore losers. If it really upsets you, block him. Find another opponent, regardless.

And to the Chess.com community, and in particular those using such abuse: GROW UP!!!Yell You win some, you lose some. If someone beats you, get over it. The sun will come up tomorrow and there will be another game to play. Leave finding the real cheaters to Erik, Jay and co: they do a fantastic job here.

His rating was 1340 something, i don't recall, and yes kohai thank you very much.

Don't worry too much. Just abt a day or two ago I played against this kid rated around 1800. I started playing thinking that I'd get massacred completely but to my surprise I found that I could actually cope with him and I won :). Now this gentlemen keeps asking me "Are you sure you're playing by yourself?" And once this continued for abt two-three times I had to reason with him that why would I..a paying member (I was a Gold first and then Platinum before going Diamond just days back..)  resort to such lowly ways just to steal a win. He seemed to accept that atleast:)

Well, like I said don't worry too much. If it becomes too dirty, just ask a Mod to sort it out , I'm pretty sure they'd be glad to help out

If you do not doubt your play, then what is the point of your forum? I've noticed that people on this server like to call each other out like playground kid. why not everyone grow up and leave such trivial matter be past

Kupov

It is called a thread.

shovingwood

Don't worry about your accusers mate. As long as you know you played fair, nobody can ever take that away from you!Smile

And what do you mean by namecalling? I fail to see how this is of any consequence to the topic at hand

bigmac30

lets face it computer chess is the modern coraspondance chess open book it is not like you are going toilet all the time and you played him in some sort of blitz game you havent got time to use a data base sully seems to be one to be wary of as well they are out there bad losers

Benbarney

I'm impressed of the cheating accusation & fear (of playing a cheater/of being accused of cheating) many of you seem to face here in the forums

Again, a built-in "report abuse" button in the game windows could be a solution (submitting directly the specific game to staff/submitting directly the specific game chat log to staff), without a need of public processes that kill the game.

Bruiser419

Usually when I've thought someone might be cheating, it's not until the end when you seem to be winning and all of a sudden he's seems to playing the best move every time and you end up losing.  That and you both used to make moves at a good pace and all of a sudden he's taking signifcant time per move, and after 1 move signs off again.

I'm sure in the end though, it's just that he's better.  And most of the time I don't think the person is cheating, but on occasion, the circumstancial evidence sometimes leans in that direction.

And Benbarney, there is.  At the botom of the game page is a "Report Abuse" link.  You use that if you want to report someone who you think is cheating.

If, for any reason, you do not want to play against a specific player on this site ever again, we have a mechanism for that. We have created a blocked list just for this purpose, and you can manage yours here: http://www.chess.com/home/privacy.html

Please do not call out other players or make public accusations on this site, this is against site rules.

Kupov,

There's no way you could have cheated. Several of your moves were inaccuracies, that any human player would make. His moves were horrible. Maybe he was using a computer, but forgot to turn it off "helpmate" mode.

PaulinevN

Nothing wrong with your win

jootoo

I agree it is not cheating, but I do not agree to discuss it at forum for everybody read this thread will know who that player is, it is not fair to him even his behavior is not good, suggest to delete this thread asap.

alec94x

I agree your no cheat he's just a poor sport you'll meet all kinds online some people disconnect when the heats on other people will swear at you 4 letter words when there losing others will let there clocks run out for at least 35 or 45 minutes to protest the fact you won't let them take back a move.

Don't let it get to you as long as you know you didn't cheat and are honest with yourself that's what counts.
