An idea for leagues

I was kind of excited for leagues at first because I thought I would be getting more of a chance to play against people in my league! After realizing that it was just an incentive to play more games and I could advance merely by playing in arenas it lost its thrill to me.

I believe it could be really fun and community building for chess.com to use this system in a way that could replicate or build what OTB leagues have done in the real world. I would love to be in a league were it’s the third time this week that I have played “xXXloveschessXXx” and I’m determined to beat him because in Tuesday’s league arena he beat me twice.

I know there are chess clubs and other community features on the site but I feel like chess.com barely promotes these features. If there is some bigger community I am missing please let me know because I would love to join it! I just feel like outside the fact that I can see I’m #1 in the diamond league because I happen to be playing a lot of chess this week I could care little about leagues at all.

I would love to hear other’s opinions on the matter. Am I the only one who sees this as a chance to build something bigger? Anyways I’ll see you all on the 64 squares at some point I’m sure!
