Analysis Board Feature

For those who use the Analysis Board for Online Chess, I just noticed they have added a checkbox for legal move enforcement.  Sometimes I just want to move some pieces into a final position without going through a long sequence of moves to see how it will look.  Great thanks to the developers on Chess.Com

Right, you can just uncheck that option on the analysis board to freely move the pieces. I am glad you are enjoying it.

I don't get it. What does analysis board even do?!

Great solution! Thanks, Erik and Staff.

For "Online Chess" click "Moves" and then Analysis Board should be at the bottom.  It gives you a board that you can move pieces about to plan your strategy rather than doing everything menally only like you would in OverTheBoard chess.

I've submitted games to be analyized but have yet to figure out what all the annotation's mean.  a bunch of possible moves at different points of the game with question marks and exclamation points and some moves in red and some in black

! good

!! very good

!? questionable/surprising move

? not the best move

?? game losing blunder

Black are the moves that actually happened. Red are the moves the engine thinks are better.

Games analyzed through Chess.com will show you variations where it thinks you may not have played accurately.  It will show you what could have happened, had you made the "right" move, and it will show you what it would expect to have happen, since you made the move you did.

Possible errors get rated as follows:
?! - questionable move
? - mistake
?? - you blew it (blunder)

Unfortunately, I don't think the Chess.com analysis engine will give a "!" or "!!" since a computer expects the best move it finds to be the one played.

This remids me... I think I can have two more games analyzed now that a week has passed!
