Any Marxists out there on chess.com?  It would be nice to have a conversation on labor struggles, politics, history, etc. while we play a game of chess.

Rael

Chess is a bourgoise pursuit wholly divorced from the means of production. For shame, sir. For shaaaaaame.

I would be interested in a discussion while I oppress the proletariat.

rednblack

I've studied a lot of Marx, and I've been involved in labor issues for quite awhile, though I wouldn't call myself a Marxist.

You oppress the proletariat?  Marxist or not, such talk I shall not hear!  To look down upon the proletariat - the "have not"s so to speak of the middle class - is only showing you have pity for that particular group of people.  Condescension is slightly rude, is it not?

Just trying to participate and make this dull debate go to a full fledged discussion.  Don't take my words with more than a grain of salt.Wink

Is not Marxism the only hope to save our country from the dire poverty and hunger that grips the USA. Our destitute status both now and historically is the shame of our system of individual freedom. That is why so many come here risking life and limb, abandoning family; coming here in the hope of bringing their strong democratic traditions and government controlled economic systems to rescue the US.

So comrades rejoice, our day may be finally ariving!

Yes under Comrade Obama, your wish may come true there, buddy.

Oi you two, let's keep the discussion of hypothetical politics to humor only. If you would, please go back to your serfdoms and be oppressed, thank you for your cooperation.

Photray- I will go ahead and concede the point that non-plutocrats exist, but feeling pity for them is another matter. Is it not their own fault that they have neither the intelligence to be born to wealthy parents, nor the strength of character to earn millions off of others with no physical expenditure- that most unsavory act?

I believe it is because we are not taught very well on money matters in school or by governments, which means we are largely ignorant on it and that means we rely to much on others to determine our incomes and lives. Such as governments and your boss for egsample.

I myself am trying to solve this issue in my life, which has taught me thus far some interesting things.

Although your idea of talking about 'labor' and 'proletariat' interests me I am a little bit concern about one of the regulations of this site... quoting:

"Chess.com also does not allow political or religious debate in the forums."

That's a question to ask the administrators I pressume.

*sigh* and I was having so much fun discussing hypothetical oppression, until they got wrapped up in real oppression. Now I'll just wait for the flaming to start and erik to hop along with the padlock.

MANIFESTO MANIFESTING MODERNIZED MARX :

When considering Marx in a modern context, bringing to bear the full weight of political correctness, accepting that Stalin will not waffle, indeed even allowing  pro-active Lenin spin, the Question will arise to be answered not by pollsters but even as the chads fall & a new administration ushers in... there is no Red vs Blue states but one state of electoral Red on Red; or minorities retain a minor roll, weapons of mass destruction destroy the masses, and the price of gasoline continues to climb; and so that is why we Must ask, whilst thinking outside the box, the key ingredient remembered, the real question, seeking real answers~ Sealed
