Remember that tournaments are Round Robin, so you play everyone twice. Every tournament game counts as in progress, but those that haven't started yet don't show on your online "games in progress" tab, even when they are considered tournament games in progress.

Looking at My Online Tournaments tab, it says I have 45 Tournament games in progress. On Online Chess tab, it says I have 38 games in progress.
