I have the same issue in a 24-hour game. My opponent did not make a move in regulation time, and the timer read "A few minutes" for a few hours until the game ended, and it was also not reflected as a win.
"Automatically Claim Victory When Time Runs Out!"
The opponent did not have a premium member icon next to the username. Also, all other rules of etiquette apply to premium members, so I doubt that 'automatic vacation' would be a paid privilege.

Oh... if that's the case then it couldn't have been automatic vacation. But auto vacation does exist for premium members:

I show you have two games ongoing. Are you saying it wasn't one if those? Had there been any moves made?
I did not realize that there were automatic vacations, so thanks, macer75.
Martin_Stahl: The game to which I was referring is not one of my current games. That game ended without a move yesterday with a different opponent.
What does the server record?
In Live, if the live server process crashes before writing the games to the database the game can get lost but the server is what keeps track of the moves and times and is the official arbitrator.
AV-57's problem is something else. It's possible if both sides haven't made at least one move the game gets aborted, with the exception of tourney games.
I am also noticing that the timer is often way off. My opponent can fail to move for more than 24 hours and the time will show he has 43 hours left, for example.
Possibly vacation related. If a player goes on vacation (for example through premium timeout protection) then comes off before 24 hours has lapsed, the difference between 24 and the time taken gets added to the games in progress where it is the player's move.
It is a compromise made when the site changed vacation so that it would always use at least 24 hours.
I was white, so I had made a move.
I don't think the game is rated or counted as a win for you if both players have not made a move. (If it is a tournament game it counts as a point in the tourney for you though.) This was the case here since he didn't make a move.

You are correct. It actually takes 4 moves to be rated. However, in this instance the game isn't even in the archive which leads me to believe it was aborted.
I am playing Daily Chess, 48-hour move games. My settings are set to "Automatically claim victory when time runs out." I recently played a 48-hour, Daily Chess game where my opponent timed out. Long after he had timed out, the game said "A few minutes more" for him. He never made his move. The game is now over, and it is not reflected as a win for me.
Why not?
