Avatars
My avatar is Nicholas D. Wolfwood from the anime Trigun, which was one of my favorite animes.
I'll not explain my nickname.
Actually, Loomis's narrative lead me back to the start at which point I realised \i hadn't given anything of myself to this thread.
I started using Evil Homer about 6 years ago, but in many ways it is a paradox and and an intended one at that.
I found this pic somewhere along the way and adopted him because he looks innocent and happy! The nickname - well, I just sit in a chair and quarterback my pieces to a quick death...
I am an incessant reader of almost all subjects and when I say I have been there...
Only a select few would recognize the front porch of where I am standing.

Everytime i see your name, i think of Homer Simpson dancing around in a devil suit singing
"i am evil homer ! i am evil homer ! "
sorry can't help it
Instead of putting up a picture of myself, I did a google image search for super hot male models and I settled on the one I thought was the cutest.
/bwahahaha
//can you believe there are "girls" who actually do that?
My name is pretty random. I was a professional musician for a while, so I guess it kind of fits. Although, I don't know if I ever printed a poster with "tonight only" on it. I also love the movie 'Blues Brothers' where it has some significance. Besides that, it is rather meaningless.
My avatar is from my favorite comic strip: 'Calvin and Hobbes.' I studied philosophy in college, and Hobbes, being very philosophical, is one of my favorite characters of all time. I used to love reading his philosophical discussions with his 6 year old buddy. In case you were wondering, I never thought much of the real Thomas Hobbes, and wasn't really ever interested in political philosophy. If you look closely, my avatar is Hobbes in a thinking pose. This seemed ideal for a chess site avatar. I am scratching my chin plenty, on this site.
I love Escher. That is a really cool idea.

So you explained your avatar, but what is the meaning of your name? I don't understand the paradox comment. I had actually wondered about it before; is it the Greek guy, or the Simpson, or what?
The name issupposedly the way an Akkadian king would have spelt his name if he had lived 4 500 years later and spoke English. I have used that name in various internet places over the years.
The picture is a pair of colliding galaxies. I am interested in stellar dynamics, how stars move about and form structures ranging from small open clusters of stars up to huge superclusters of galaxies.
One of the things that never ceases to amaze me, is the range and depth of avatars that I see every day on this site. Some are easily understandable and some, like their members names are indecipherable unless you have a lead clue.
Me, I only use things I have seen or done, mostly because these things cheer me up from time to time, but what I would love to know is how everyone else chooses theirs.
