Avg Opponent Stats

Hi,

I got a quick stats question:

In my stats for Live Chess - Standard it says:
Avg. Opponent Rating when I ...
Win 1194
Lose 1231
Draw 1259

It also says in the top left box:
Av. Opp.: 1166.69

Now how could that number be lower than any of the three numbers mentioned above?

Ideas anybody?

Because you gain rating-points even when playing lower-rated players?

the 1166.69 is the average opponent rating over all time spent on the site, whereas the win/loss/draw averages only take the last 90 days into account.

Because the 'Average Opponent Rating When I...' doesn't count old games- they slowly get stricken from the record when they pass a certain threshold of time.

However, the 'Average Opponent' stat counts all the games you have ever played.

EDIT: Beaten to the punch.

Thanks guys,

the cut-off makes sense to me.

Maybe it would be a good idea to mention it, ie. something like

"90 day avg. opponent"

Ah, I at last know why my averages are moving around so much and so fast.

Could it be maybe made clearer on the stats page ?
