LOL, is it the same user? In my messages, he got banned 20 hours ago.

Yep it was him! I checked his account and it was closed 🤣

You should block him first, lol. That's what I did.

I feel he tries it again first I’ll troll him then I’ll block and report him!

TrickyConman

It is highly advisable to distrust scammers and conmen. They can be  tremendously tricky.

I have just dodged a scammer, and I wanna warn everyone to not believe such users. I hope this topic will help you because this attempt was so realistic.

(I don't know if it is allowed, so I'm not gonna give his name. But, be aware of the scammers.)

That guy I was talking about sent me a PM like this (I don't exactly remember):

"Hi, I am (censored). I am 37 years old future candidate master with the elo of 2187. I wanna improve my teaching skills, so I have randomly picked a couple of "noobs" such as you to coach free for a month.

(I can't remember the topic of the second paragraph.)

Let me start with a couple of questions.

1) How old are you?

2) When did you start playing chess?

3) Do you have a FIDE rating? If not, what do you think it would be?

(etc.)"

I have answered all questions, and in the last question, I admitted I am studying openings nowadays. It was probably a trap for the potential victim.

I can't remember all his replies but the important ones are the first two.

"I have checked your games, and I can say that you're between 1700 and 1800. That's what my rating was when I studied chess for 3 years, 1800. (Notice the irrelevance here) Don't worry about your openings, I already have a perfect repertoire for you. You can just send me your email, and I will send you the repertoire."

What a coincidence! He can't send it on chess.com PMs. Do you know what's even more interesting? It's his next message.

"Oh wait, the email can just be inserted here. (Random scam link, can't remember)"

Of course, I didn't do that. I reported him. Blocked him. And chess.com have just sent me a message about it.

I think you're familiar with this in a different language.

After this message, I immediately checked my PMs with the "coach", and BOOM, his account is closed, and our PMs are deleted.

This guy may create another account in the future, so I'm leaving this story here. Thank you for reading, and have an excellent rest of your day.

(Sorry for the bad English, I'm not a native English speaker.)

Hi, I’m Joe. I’m striving to earn a PhD in language and I want to improve my teaching skills. I can do that by giving you noobs some free lessons.

Let me start with a few questions:

1) How old are you

2) When did you first learn English

3) How good is your English

All I need is you email. happy.png
