Well you have to find a fine balance between chess and personal life! For me, as a professional chess coach, it is sometimes tricky to do so, but i try to be as efficient as possible snd give myself 1-2 days off from chess (maybe perhaps reading chess books or watching online lectures). That way i can spend more time with friends and family and rest from chess learning so as my brain gets a chance to digest all the knowledge
Being Selfish?

@Chuck639...are you really in Cambodia?? I didn't think golf was allowed by the Communists...
I’m actually living in Canada but my parents were born in Cambodia and I was born in Thailand because of the killing fields happening in 1970s.
I wanted to honour my mother and family heritage so I switched to the Cambodian flag. My mother worked very hard to give me my freedom and opportunities.
Cambodian is my first language and mother tongue as well.

ok----very good of you...I meant no offense...are the Kmer Rouge still in power in your home country?? That was a terrible thing, the killing fields...they made a film about it long ago...

No, it’s technically a restored Constitutional Monarchy nowadays which is a hybrid of royalty and a parliamentary system but essentially autocratic; think England, Japan, Netherlands and Denmark, even here in Canada.

I played golf this morning and chess this evening. I love both games. Tough....
Thank-you for the reply and cheers! All the best to you.
I am licking my wounds today after a war on the boards and I start to wonder I miss the mark sometimes on time between friends and family. I am glad I got that special time out of the way early this weekend but will be more mindful with “our quality time” moving forward.
My camera is drunk I swear!
I had a light conversation today with a friend; “how have you been” type of deal and golf came up.
I have not played a practice round with my mens league as of yet. I explained on prioritizing my time on tournament prep and was blessed to have a couple expert playing partners working with me, therefore golf officially took a back seat.
Essentially it came down to being selfish and prioritizing on improving my chess. What do you guy think?
