I suspect online chess has hurt chess clubs and venues in some places but possibly sparked chess in other places.

Advertising clubs in the public forums other than in the Clubs and Teams forum (linked above), is spamming and isn't allowed (not that anyone enforces anything other than comments containing any form of the word "cheat" -- but that doesn't negate the policy.).

Thanks Rob. I think Widenbaum was hoping to ride that Village bandwagon when his chess venue proved too profitable and it seems in that respect he was successful.
