I would argue that it is the results that matter, and not the method, within reason.

I just want to tell Bilbo that Jesus loves him, no matter how much you try and run.

The only thing you learn in school is your place in the food chain, which ironically the only thing education is supposed to free you from.

Again with the assumption that homeschooling is bad. It is all relative.

The fact that the government cannot regulate homeschoolers as easily as government run schools can be taken both ways.

If the parents are capable of schooling their own children I would urge them to do so. If not the government has provided free schools.

The problem is not homeschooling per se, it's the Christian fundamentalists urge to shield their kids from knowledge that go against the bible, like evolution. So the kids grow up with distorted views on our world. What can they do as adults? Not much. They can revolt against their parents or go into further isolation.

At this point we should change the forum name.

Hrump. I'll agree some kids (like the chinse unchristianed homeschooler near me) are so unsocialized. I asked if he wanted to play football nad he just stares at me! Those kids are definetly a bit strange...but although parents may sometimes shield their kids from 'the big bad world' C homeschooling provides them with the knowledge on these things and the proof against it.

crossword730

@Estren, what is your experience with Christian fundamentalists that has led you to think so?

crossword730

you sound a little bitter kaynight.

I agree, the public school system is much better. There you are taught to think freely and encouraged to think critically, and the wide variety of teachers give you an accurate view of the world.

But the most free thinking place of all is the internet.
People are allowed to say whatever they want without getting ridiculed or mocked.
Kids should get internet educations.
crossword730

I think we can all agree that we should be free to educate our children to our own opinions as long as it is within the law of the land.

crossword730

Shall we end here ladies and gentlemen?

Estren

This will not end. The fight against fundamentalism has just begun.

crossword730

@Estren, what is your world view?
