Censorship

Description of this forum:
Get the latest site news and feedback from Chess.com and discuss what's happening on your favorite chess website!

I posted something yesterday to discuss and issue in the news that I think falls within this description.  I was looking for feedback and discussion from Chess Dot Com and its community... My post must have pinched a nerve, because it was DELETED within 30 minutes.  Why?  Not even the courtesy to contact me and explain why...

I find this even more disheartening than the subject matter that I posted.

Seems like someone here has a "heavy hand"... Censorship never solves anything.

Since that heavy handed individual that deleted my post seems to prefer to remain anonymous, never contacting me before or after deleing my post.  I prefer if it was made public.

I think I deserve some explanation or apology.

I may have agreed with deleting the post if the "moderator" had provided a good case for this action.

Did what you posted fall outside the guidlines of what is allowed in the forums?

not that i am aware of, nor was i informed of this.

if i broke some rule that i overlooked, it would have been nice to point that out.

it was a legitimate chess dot com subject dealing with game play and inquiring about possible improvements with the new version on the way.

That's weird. Are you sure there wasn't something in it about cheating? Because Chess.com sometimes deletes threads about cheating.

Since you were not given any reason, then I would suggest you just post it again and see if it is removed again. I'm sure if it is a problem, you will receive a message this time.

Here is an idea:

simply consider it a bug.

Always save a backup of any content you post that took some work to create.

If it vanishes without a trace and noone informs you of any moderator action, then assume it was a bug and repost it.

After all, if mods disliked it, they WOULD have notified you, wouldn't they ? Laughing

They learned the hard way not to hug an animal with 6 inch fangs. Cool

rubbeldiekatzunso

It's amazing how some guys already consider themselves an animal for no bigger reason than a mere 6 inch "fang" ...

A little self-confidence goes a long way.

To the OP;  Was your thread IN the correct forum?  You said; "I find this even more disheartening than the subject matter that I posted".Undecided   How DISHEARTENING WAS the subject matter that you posted?  Your talking about V3.

JFSebastianKnight

To the OP; did your post have 11 words and start with the letter 'S'?

"I know for a fact they like to hug and cuddle you".  Undecided   Eric always barfs whenever I try to hug and cuddle him.Embarassed

I wasn't aware of that... I guess its okay to censor cheating threads? I was not informed of this if this is the case...

it was about users using bots to play their games without any acknowledgment. I can see how it could have been categorized as a cheating thread.

others mentioned a “bug”... don't buy that.

I like the humor in other comments.  Laughing

I wont repost something unless it was a "bug", everyone makes mistakes.

kenardi

To clarify... it was more about potential and availability of these bots and not so much about it actually happening.   Maybe I have been in the dark, I only just discovered this in a news article, and see it as a great subject to discuss.

Technically I don't see how this can be stopped accurately... not here to whine about it...

Just was looking for a “community” opinion on the subject and if V3 might be able to discourage it better than the current version.

I guess I just re-posted in a way, so...

kleelof

There is a group that allows discussions about cheating. Not sure of the exact name perhaps something like Cheater Forum Group.
