I guarantee if you leave the mods alone, they'll leave you alone. Why?
Because your born alone, you live alone, and you die alone.
Censorship

I guarantee if you leave the mods alone, they'll leave you alone. Why? Because your born alone, you live alone, and you die alone.
That is what im waiting for, the answer to "Why?"

You aren't born alone. You're born in a room full of people. And, given your ability to yank chains, I'd say your death will be attended by a gleeful mob.

I guarantee if you leave the mods alone, they'll leave you alone. Why? Because your born alone, you live alone, and you die alone.
If that post didn't kill this thread, euthanasia is called for. Remove the tubes, pull the plugs, end the gibberish....

Don't hold your breath. Wait a minute! Is this a "suicide by thread" attempt??

Perhaps a good (and very old) question is "Who moderates the moderators?"
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

I understand putting a stop to:
- Socially offensive discussion.
- Illegal discussion.
- Vile or pornographic images.
- Unnecessary harsh language.
- Political discussions that are not chess related.
- Anything that is directed at an individual or group in a aggressive manner or violent manor.
To not allow adult discussion about an online chess topic is CENSORSHIP.
And i think, very SILLY to treat the community like CHILDREN. Even when you feel that some might act like children.
If you look at the last word, or second to last word in the thread "The topic that we shall not say", just before it was locked. At least I was given some explaination this time.
It reads:
Discussions about cheating in these forums is expressly off limits. All discussion on cheating - in whatever terms one cares to call it - can be done in the Cheating Forum Group. In the future I will delete any thread about cheating without explanation. Continued disregard for posting policies may lead to suspension of posting privileges.
I guess its okay for the moderator to "break" the rules. Deleting something without explanation is not only against the rules, it is also just plain arrogant and rude. I understand the frustration the moderators must feel at times... if its getting to you that much, maybe a break is needed.
Would have been much more professional to have sent me a private message before locking the thread. That was NOT done. I guess you can't expect much from a website that has all "Anonymous" moderators. The dicussion wan NOT about cheating!!! If it was given some time and open the mind a little... the very last post or last word in the thread was starting to understand this.
If you look at the last word, it reads:
I apologize, I'm not trying to derail the thread but, the only thing I know about bots is; Remember back in the early 90's, there was a show on TV about fighting RO-BOTS. It was out of San Francisco. It was like the machanical version of the UFC. Kids would build these fabulous robots with spinning saws, and hammers, even flame throwers. They were put in a plexi-glass cage and operated by remote-control. The idea was to pulvorize your opponents bot. It taugh you the science behind force, power, gravity, tork, etc. They had nicknames and it was on TV on Saterday. God, I miss that show.Frown
I think this is the first person that got what I was trying to open discussion on. Oh well, we can't have any of that crazy discussion going on here!!! Better NOT talk about chess engines either!!! That might be TABOO next... as that could lead to discussion of the "C" word.
I guess this thread will be locked or deleted next.

@kenardi you've been shown where to take your favorite topic of discussion by a number of people numerous times.
You seem to have taken it too personally which is too bad because you seem like an ok guy.
But maybe you should let it go. You might feel better:)

Good advice, thanks. I'm okay... not really that upset, anymore. I actually got over it before posting it a second time. Was over it once I posted the blue faced fellow.
I have no harsh feelings, even if i do not agree with the "policy".

Except the wording of the "rule" is that the moderator may give a reason, not that they have to. Also, the rule about deleting a topic doesn't include giving a reason ... it states they will just be deleted. The reason wording is given in the part about deleting individual posts or editing them.
While what is being done can be considered censorship, so what? The site sets the rules about what it doesn't allow and if anyone doesn't follow those rules, then they get to deal with the consequences. There are open areas of discussion (mostly open anyway) and if one feels the need to discuss such an issue, they can do it there.
As to being locked, this one has went for 5 pages (as of my typing this) so unless it gets too out of hand, it may go on many more (assuming people still have stuff to say).

I'll keep it simple...
You can not "suffer the consequences" if you have not been warned.
You have to communicate to "warn" someone.
Unless there are gremlins at work... [DELETE] [DELETE] [DELETE]
heheheh...
Communication is the best policy [PERIOD]
I have yet to receive a "official" warning sent to my account!

There is something called "Open Discussion" which anyone can join and discuss just about anything they want.
Politics, religion, theory of evolution, etc.

Yeah, the consequences you suffer are deleted threads and the possibility you will get muted later. That and the time put into making topics that get deleted. The flow was deletion on the first step, then a warning, then muting (from one of the topics with the rules).
And I have agreed with you before, communication is the best policy. The fact is, they don't always do it and they don't have to, not even by the rules posted (not for topic deletions and tney may for post deletion/modification).
Though, if you really want an official warning I guess you can post your topic again ... but you did get one in CrystalMoon's post, which you quoted above, which is an explicit warning to you.

I wont post again, the post is still there... don't agree with locking... but, I'm not looking for any confrontation like that with staff or members here... I will only post again if the powers that be reconsider and give me the okay.
I think at worst my original post should have been moved to "off-topic" maybe...
i did hear the warning i reposted.
sorted.
Are you blowing smoke?... sorry, couldn't resist.
