Change your flag to Ukraine to show solidarity!

I strongly urge all users to change their flags to Ukraine, or "Global" flag to show unity and solidarity with the Ukrainian people and oppose the criminal invasion of Ukraine.

Also my fellow Russian players - do the right thing and show it's not your war but psycho Putin's! Change your flag.

Peace to everyone

You can like your country and show patriotism without liking your government. That is all I am going to say.

I think flags have become a "holy symbol", and bad things are done in the name of a flag, always.

being patriotic is just like "tradition" in general, a way to make nationalism, religious fanaticism, and crimes in the name of these 2 things legitimate... "everybody loves to love the country, to have a thanksgiving meal, whatever"... it's all a distraction to make these bad things PG13 and acceptable.

"country loving".... smh

If you want to "show solidarity", go and buy some blankets and send them over. Or donate money to the Red Cross. Or you know, DO something. Volunteer. Gather resources and money to be sent to the people whose homes were destroyed.

Instead of sitting on your cozy chair, reveling in your arrogant moral superiority, and pretending you've done something that actually helps all those lives that are being broken just because you changed an optional setting on your chess.com profile.

Alternatively you can keep your flag but change your profile picture, like I've done.

Why not do both? The two aren't mutually exclusive.

You can donate to charity and display the Ukranian flag to show solidarity.

It's not about "donating to charity". It's about actually helping, rather than just showing off and flying some team colors.

Just curious, what is your opinion of the people who changed their flag to russia flag recently?

I don't think they're accomplishing anything, either; whatever reasons they might have had.

 1. to everything you suggested - good idea.

2. why do you think it does nothing? this attitude of "your gestures will do nothing" is wrong imo... There are many people being fed Kremlin propaganda, viewing this situation as a "conflict" when in fact it's an occupation and an expansionist invasion.

the people of Russia are the ones who can overthrow Putin and just like BLM went viral and it helped their cause if the entire world will be behind Ukraine in every way possible it can indeed affect reality.

Criticizing is easy.  Hope you got your morally superior feel good feeling from clevery pointing out my hypocracy, wrongfully assuming you know something about me or what I've been through .

I don't think it "does nothing"; I think at the moment it's actually harmful, because it breeds tribalism, exclusion, suspicion.

But, make no mistake, I know I'm just one voice screaming against the wind. I'm just very fearful of the future. We're going to feel this for decades, long after Putin is gone.

For evil to succeed ...all it requires is for good people to stand by and do nothing.

A misquote but sentiment holds true

If only the world was so simple that we could explain it with a few catchy slogans...

Im very familiar with this argument of "leftists only make the right wingers stronger by opposing them in a weak way thus playing in to their hands and creating more tribalism and extremism, everyone's facebook feed becomes more in their own opinion and there is no dialogue between people holding different ideologies"...

... a load of BS invented by smart evil people meant to make leftists and good hearted people shut up with their "derogatory and divisive opinions"... It's legitimizing the thing as if there are "two ways of thinking, both are acceptable"... This is not the case... it's just plan old evil vs. good... dark/light... nothing political about it

But now I really need to get back to my underground lair and practice my mustache-twirling some more. Excuse me.

but to address what your quote is saying, fine, be PC, don't upset anyone, you will be OK with everybody, including the KKK and Putin. They are not absolutely evil, of course.

Vegosiux

Well, if my goal was to "not ever upset anyone"; I suppose it's pretty clear I've failed at it forever.

If that was my goal.
