Its freaky if you all of a sudden relize that you have been doing the exact same thing. then you can't play people from around the globe.

im new to chess.com and some1 did that to me already but didnt know it was cheating and they logged off
Caught or not, it's highly immoral. It's stealing what another rightfully deserved and also hurts the game as a whole. I'm glad that Chess.com is vigilant in fighting cheaters.
Everybody has moments of brilliancy once in a while, so I don't think they should be unfairly penalized for that. I know personally, my rating on the chess sites I am a member of tends to float between 1400 and 1800 depending on how enthusiastic I am at the time. Most of the people who taught me how to play chess were rated USCF 1800-2100 and I did manage to eke out an occasional win or draw even in my earlier days when I was a lot weaker. I still remember the first time I had a 2000+ rated player drop a queen to me, I was so proud of myself that I promptly gave it back 5 or 6 moves later and lost. Doh!

Wow, and to think I'd just suggested to a friend to do that as a joke... I'd better tell him not to! :D
I have lost lots of games recently and I think all of my opponents have been conspiring against me to give me a bongcloudeque rating. Either that, or I'm just crap.
Sockpuppeteering deserves a bancannon. That is all there is to be said.
I am very happt to read, that a most of the players here are fair. Cheater´s aren´t for a community like this one. I just started playing here, because there is no mac support for chessbase. I hope i will find a lot of friendly players. And i hope i can improve my skill here, too.

Eric, thanks for posting this. I'm a novice at the game, and I see no reason to do stunts like that. What would you achieve?
i think people who cheat are big fat losers who can't win any other way.
