Does Chess.com check online games, as well as live games, for cheats. I hope so.
Does Chess.com use programmes to detect computer-type moves?

thats great erik for ppl who make fake accounts and fake games , what about those who uses machines, getting unbeatable? we all suffer from those , they dont just increase in ELO like rockets but also they do that on others' shoulders, their wins is our loss.
I don't believe cheating is as big a problem as people are talking about on here. Timeouts are one thing- I got like 10 when I first joined the site cause I didn't really know what was going on- but cheating?! Sounds ridiculous on a site like this, no? What's the point? If you want to be perceived as a good player on this site, you can't just show a winning record with a bunch of 5 move games. That is dumb and not very convincing.
People cheat to protect their ratings, like if they are losing to a lower rated player, than they just cheat for a few moves or so, then they win it on there own. They also don't has to use Rybka, they can use one of the Chessmaster personalities, just to win the game. It goes on all the time, everybody's doing it here. It's like all those people at Yahoo Chess came over to infect Chess.com
I disagree that "everybody's doing it here".
What on earth do you mean by that? Handwaving and generalities don't cut it.
Yeah they do. You don't see it because your playing NM level chess. Go down to the clubhouse, pretend your stupid at this game and see all of people who cheat to protect there ratings. Take a look at my name, I now what I'm talking about. And another thing is this. Supposebly some people are doing a system, than they just start the game and set up the system, than switch over to a strong Chessmaster personality, just so they can see how people play and what the ideas are. Than they just switch off CM and play the rest of the game to the finish as soon as there winning. They call that learning, not cheating. HA! That's a laff. I bet you never saw that in NM level chess.
If people really were using computers, they'd beat me ALL THE TIME in 1 min chess, which is what I play on live chess. I make TONS of mistakes in quick. Are you saying somehow that I personally never encounter these people, but that you encounter them all the time?
I don't buy it.

The internetz? You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. Want to know where to go to avoid all the cheaters? Try an OTB game! =)

1 min isn't a lot of time to move in another program and paste the engine's response back to chess.com...
It's been said so many times, but I just had to say it myself. Why cheat for a rating that means nothing. It's supposed to be a fun learning experience. I know I have learned a great deal from the mistakes I've made. Moreover, some moves I've seen made me do research that lead to improvement in my play as I discovered some weaknesses. Thanks for letting me express my opinion.
What's kind of cool is if you can get your board position to be the same as a position in an endgame book, then you can almost use the book just as an endgame DB. And it's perfectly legal!
Has chess.com considered a system where all players get "feedback" sort of like ebay, where the longer you've been a member (in good standings) without any question marks, the more positive feedback you can achieve.
The more positive ratings/feedback you have, the greater the chance that you are a bona fide player...
Just a thought. What do others think?
Hmm, so I guess the interesting case is where a user is a cheating suspect but has a lot of positive feedback. (If you're not cheating and obnoxious that is not the point of this thread.)
Well there was a user awhile back, let's call him "MH". He was banned for cheating, and he had a legion of followers who supported him. I don't know - I don't think that the amount of positive feedback is an important input into the chess.com cheating detection servers. Their numerous powerful servers are better than we are at figuring out how "computer-like" the person plays.
I kind of like the idea, but I guess I just don't necessarily see the use. Thoughts?
Given the abuse that occurs with the site trophies, I doubt that a feedback rating would be a measurement that had much integrity either. It would also be ripe for abuse via multiple accounts in the same way ratings can be and would just end up being one more thing to police with little to no real value.
You have the right :
"it's nnot allowed to have more than 1 account on chess.com"
"any cheater will be suspended and banned + his account will be disabled forever"
but, resignation after few moves, I don't think that you have to punish him..
Thanks
