Hey! I like Mato!
Chess channels recommendable for those who want to improve (See post #1)

It was far from obvious that InfiniteFlash's question was rhetorical, it sounded quite straightforward to me. So all that "LOL" seems ill-advised at best
I openly said I failed to mention that it was intended to be a rhetorical question. So yes, thank you for repeating the obvious. Sometimes, I forget to add these things.
The "LOL" was me admitting my big FAIL on my part.
@ SeanGGodly
Aren't rhetorical questions just questions that dont need a response, just critical thinking by ones self in private?
"On a more personal level, I like to discuss things, which is clearly not the case with you."
Well, I believe you are assuming I tried to cut off the coversation, which is not the case. This sounds like you are trying to make me feel bad or portray me as a bad guy because I didn't appear to read or respond to your post which you put a lot of time and effort into.
By unbiased statistics, what I really meant was, are there people that are improving at chess because of your videos? What are their results? How many of these people are there? (Questions that apply to all youtube chess channels)
I apologize for the misunderstanding.
I completely agree with you on Chessexplained. He really deserves more subscriptions for his awesome content.
Another very good channel is the one from the Saint Louis chess club: in particular the lectures from GM Akobian are very instructive.
YESSSSS, Akobian, Seirawan and Finegold are World-Class!
Actually he says `Hi, this is Mato`...which makes it even worse
hmm, i felt something was wrong -- thanks for correcting.

I learn a lot from Mato...including how to be a decent human being who doesn't go around bad mouthing youtube chess videos based on his personal chess video criteria. I couldn't bring myself to subscribe to an individual who goes out of his way to single out and blacklist youtube chess videos. Strike me down! Let the people decide for themselves if it's educational or not for them. Go have a beer at the pub with Jerry...fill your boots! By all means suggest the top 5 or 10 or whatever you want. But to single out channels and bash them...just seems a bit insecure or something. How the hell do you know who learns what from whom or how? Suffering cats!

I think mine is awesome for players who are 1000-1650 or so (maybe a little higher) https://www.youtube.com/brendanjnorman
Now that the shameless plug is out of the way... ()
I think Tiger Lilov is very, very good in terms of content and shares the title with Igor Smirnov.
I think Jerry and KingsCrusher are awesome after a few beers for great entertainment value, although I dont think the instructive value is particularly high (not for me, at least).
ChessExplained also awesome...
St Louis Chess Club seems to also have a nice channel.
My two cents... Wish I had time to watch more content nice online actually.

@SeanGgodly, dont take offense to the following
The number of subscribers and views you have doesnt mean a youtube channel is good in regards to the quality to help people improve.
You might be entertaining and appealing to a large audience, but that doesn't mean your channel is good at all. It might suck actually (as in some examples previosly mentioned)
As mentioned before, MatoJelic, Powerplaychess, and Zibbit are not good quality channels imo, despite the fact that they have a large number of subscribers and views.
The better question is: does your youtube channel help people improve, or is it for entertainment purposes?
Im not saying anything about the quality of your channel, but your reasons to justify this, are not sufficient imo.
When I say good, I don't mean for it to be a popularity contest. The quality of a channel should be determined by the overall subjective experiences of the population that happens to view your channel.
Explain what you post on your channel, why you think its very useful and helpful towards the improving player, and then use unbiased statistics based off the audience to justify it.
yes its a typical logical fallacy an argumentum ad populum (appeal to the people) like saying, 8 out of 10 cats prefer kiticat therfore its the best catfood, or 50,000 elvis fans cannot be wrong. In other words its a fallacious and illogical argument to state that because I have 10 zillion views and 50 squillion subscribers my channel is good, fallacious and illogical :D
Well it's not an outright bad way to argue, it's just easy to misuse. I mean if his videos are of the instructive type and manage to get that many viewers, there's probably something he is doing right. Something is getting people to talk about him. He deserves a lot of credit for his views and subscribers, and although we can't know anything for sure just based on that, it's going to be hard for him to be a bad communicator yet interest so many people.
Mentioning the word "logic" 5 times doesn't automatically make you right :p
Still, Infiniteflash's point about how people liking videos doesn't always equal improvement is a fair one.

hmm may be you are right, I mean you are right - I accept my mistake.
its just that i used to listen to mato and then i understood that there is nothing to learn.
Anyway I appologise to Mato Jelic and anyone else offended.
(I still like his "Hi this is Mato")
Funny how this topic is more about the OP's bashing on other channels rather than giving his "recommendations".

Bahiya, muje yad atti hai, jab mai Islamabad mai rati te (meri biwi Pindi rene wali ti) , aik buri nishan, ilm hassle karna furz hai, hum afsoze nahi hona chaiye drust bolna keliye.
Honestly man, your Urdu/Hindi is terrible.
Where you or your wife lived has nothing to do with our discussion.
What exactly are you saying ???

you are correct it is terrible, and yet you unhderstood it, ironic really, why are you apologising for speaking the truth. If you leanred nothing then why apologise for saying that you leanred nothing?
I stood by what I said, that there was nothing to learn.
My appology was for Bad mouthing, backbiting etc.
The part of your post that I completely failed to understand was when you say
Bahiya, muje yad atti hai, jab mai Islamabad mai rati te (meri biwi Pindi rene wali ti) , " aik buri nishan, ilm hassle karna furz hai, " hum afsoze nahi hona chaiye drust bolna keliye
Let me translate it:
Brother I can remember when I used to live in Islamabad (my wife was for Pindi), aik buri nishan (i cant translate that), to seek knowledge is a must, we shouldn't be sorry for saying the truth.
You need to work on your articulation, in that case - and rhetorical questions/statements still warrant a respose. (Rhetoric is the art of discourse which, by definition, implies communication and conversation).
On a more personal level, I like to discuss things, which is clearly not the case with you.
Good luck with your channel.
