Sadly enough, You're really asking for a lot.
Rudeness exists in every corner of the inter-webs. Chess.com is not immune. Report them and you might help get them banned, that's really all there is to it.
With chess.com and its freemium model, there's zero skin in the game and no real incentive to be polite and courteous (they'll ban you ... but you can always come back!)
Anonymity allows people to be themselves without any consequences. Some do it because they're really good at being jerks. Some might try it for the thrill of it.
Though even before the age of computers, did you think the some of the most "famous" players of the world didn't "think" these slurs/abuses when they lost? They probably didn't say it out loud because there was a significant cost to "speaking your rage-induced mind".
The romanticism and beauty of the game is best left for the historians.
Hello chess lovers,
I am a member in the site since last February and because of chess.com I put chess again into my life after a lot of years of non-playing. I have to say that I enjoy it very much and I want to thank the creators of the community, every person who works for having it always present, as well as every member that I have played with.
But this post is written here for a reason that I find of the most importance: a chess player's attitude.
Fortunately, I haven't experienced it a lot of times here -only maybe 10-15 that's a quite small amount comparing to the amount of the games that I have played until today- to receive a bad attidude from some players through the chat.
Do really exist people who, using some bad language during the game, believe that they take part in a game that represents maybe the most beautiful site of the human's creativity?
I don't consider as an obligation to congratulate the other player after any result of the game despite the fact that this is something I have learnt during my first lessons of chess 20 years ago and I do it most of the times. To me it is a behaviour of respect to the person who sits on the other site of the table or the of the computer. However, if some players do it or not is their own business.
But I don't find it at all as a behaviour which represents the beauty of the game to use bad language or curse words. I don't know how "romantic" sounds this thesis to you but it would be nice to have your opinions.
Furthermore, should we report in a way to the forum these kind of players who have this kind of behaviour?
The occasion of this post is a game that I had some minutes ago, and of course I have saved the username of the other player, as well as what he wrote. I wouldn't like to post it here but it can be in the disposal of the administrators of the site.
Best regards and wishes for nice games to everyone,
Tassos
