Chess.com Articles
Except chess.com has taken away Article authorship capability from all but a few writers. The only authors, I was informed, would be staff writers: "Paid for pieces that we publish in this area are not from community members, but direct representations of Chess.com's views"
I did read the article on Gyula Breyer, that was interesting. If he were alive today I'm sure he would have loved Pogchamps.
I do see a post from a member who got banned for abuse, the post #32. How come their post is still visible, when so much good stuff got deleted forever, wasting hundreds of hour work for quality threads and all?
I assume someone is going to say "Oh, but it changed since back then in 2009". Still, for what I saw, cc doesn't care much about keeping quality stuff from members. It's the good ol' 1984 "destroy all tracks of them" policy that prevails over the interrest of readers/members.
this is not a place to ask them and STOP NECROPOSTING

It was I who necroposted my own thread and for a specific reason- to juxtapose what once was against what is today.
How quickly a perfectly valid topic digressed into fighting and name calling over nothing pretty much sums it all up.
This was a fun trip down memory lane for me! Thanks for that, batgirl! I'm not very active on the site anymore and haven't partaken in discussions in years. But your screencap of the article section paints a clear and painful picture, batgirl.
It is a pity that chess.com deletes posts from members that it bans. Here it seems that Gonnosuke was an active participant in the discussion. If I remember correctly who he was, he was quite correctly banned for cheating (I think he very consistently found the best moves in the vote chess games I played with him on the team). But he was also thoughtful and interesting in discussions. It's a pity that we cannot see anymore what he had to say.
It is very funny to read my own comments from 12 years ago (which I had completely forgotten). First, I switched from mathematics to economics shortly after that, but I see now that I always thought like an economist.
Second, it seems that with my notion of the "magazine system" I reinvented what is the system for scientific publication, of which I was then blissfully unaware and which is now the bane of my existence (let's just say it doesn't work as well when it is for profit and careers depend on it). Third, oh my God, am I long-winded. ![]()
(For old time's sake) Edit: I corrected some typos.
Hi!
Long time, no see.... to coin a phrase.
I really enjoyed reading through our long ago discussions. I also agree with your Gonnosuke evaluation.
Can we start counting to 1,000 yet, bruh?
In the past the bunny would have frowned on this, but now that he has been relegated to off topic, he has to act accordingly. Nurture has defeated nature. Let's go.

(don't try this at home kids, you could hurt yourself. The bunny is a trained expert in counting)
They took forever to ban him even though he was playing engine moves all the time. It was ridiculous.
Maybe it was seen as bad PR since he was the highest rated daily player at the time? Maybe he was related (one way or another) to a staff member? I guess we'll never know.
i think we can fix this with a few changes: +/- recommendation tool (or getting people to use the RATING star thingy more), better search, better categorization, and better moderated content (sending non-articles to the user BLOG). we'll work on this soon!
Meanwhile Erik is done exploring and says hi to the kids who wait impatiently for their flairs and awards.

Let's not give the new group of trigger happy mods a reason to lock this topic. All they need are a few key words...

I'd say indifferent over oblivious.
