I'm new here so maybe I haven't seen it but a way to make notes for each player would be nice. Like on poker sites where you can have player notes that follow them around but only you can read them. I would love to know if my opponent is a strong winawar player so I can bone up or avoid the french, depending on my mood ;-)
Chess.com Feature Request and Wishlist #6
would it be possible for chess.com to add chess960 play in its facebook application. this feature would be really neat.
In teams/group forums, i think you can vote a post. Wouldn't it be good to vote like public votes, and trust us public to be sensible enough? Just an idea. The votes could be visible by each one; a bit like youtube, but we don't have a huge audience so each one may effect it quite a lot.
Oh right sorry, i mean in group/team NEWS. Maybe they can add it to normal forum posts in group/teams too, and THEN maybe public? just an idea. The Voting idea, out of 5 stars.
such as the one at the bottom of every chess.com page, labelled Site Map
Today trying to find analysis board or computer analysis to no avail, spent 30 minutes and only forum posts appear, one might be the right one but I have not found it. ...
Perhaps you are trying to locate the analysis for a game you have had analysed?
If so, you could look back through your messages for the one chess.com sent you saying the analysis was complete (although messages are retained for 6 months? only)
Or, you could scroll through your games archive and look for a game with the Analysed symbol (
) next to it.
If you recall the name of the opponent, searching your Games Archive becomes particularly trivial.
Or, if you recall which opening you played, you could use My Game Explorer to step through all your games and drill down to the relevant game.
i believe a strong move forward would be in every tournament, the first three players to win a free membership...
i believe a strong move forward would be in every tournament, the first three players to win a free membership...
So I buy a one-month membership, and create small tournament after small tournament... now me and all my friends have free memberships for life.
Or do you mean just the Official Chess.com ones?
Please, please allow line breaks in group profile descriptions. With an allowed limit of 1000 characters, text becomes unclear after a certain point and does nothing to help attract new members to a group.
The site map at the bottm og the page enabled me to find what I was looking for, it is an excellent tool.
Thank you artfizz.
The bottom-of-page menus are one of chess.com's best kept secrets, which is why I have previously suggested ...
The green command toolbar on chess.com that appears at the top of every page

is fantastic for providing access (via dropdown menus) to virtually all of the site's facilities.
The links at the bottom of every page, however, are virtually invisible. Very few people are aware of them until they are pointed out by someone else. There is seldom a need to scroll to the bottom of the screen. Would it be a good idea to provide a copy of these bottom-of-page links as a dropdown menu to a new command toolbar item EXTRAS at the TOP of every page - alongside PLAY LEARN READ etc. ?
and 'someone' commented this ...
"Site navigation depends upon exploration... c'mon fellah! click about a bit!
"
LOL! I do think "clicking about a bit" is a good idea, because you stumble across stuff that you weren't looking for and didn't realise you needed, but of course after a few hours of not being able to find what you want, you get very frustrated.
Maybe a "site" drop-down menu with the links from the bottom of the page would be helpful.
Also "Report Bug" needs to be easier to find... where the hell *is* that one? I've lost it... I definitely found it last year! Maybe stick that in the site menu or at the bottom along with a "give feedback" link that leads to a questionnaire form; such a link would reduce forum clutter and increase... err... feedback!
It's pretty standard practice to keep those kinds of at the bottom of a web-site. Sitemap, Legal, Contact Us and FAQs in particular. It's actually the first place I look on any site for any of those four items.
@paul211 - you can edit your post, instead of quoting yourself (little red tabs near the corner of your post).
I request a new wishlist thread. This is the longest so far I-{
Good idea! =)
Is there a changelog somewhere? Many of the feature suggested here you would not immediately notice if implemented without tediously checking, particularly those to do with settings etc.
If there is not a changelog, then I request a changelog thread!
Erik, keep a option such that we can go on vaction without completing the games.
vaction means there is a job which is much more important so what is the use of completing all the games when we desire to go vaction.
I don't understand. If you don't want to complete games you could resign them. If you mean going on vacation while still having moves to make in your games you can do this if you upgrade your membership.
Then what is the use of vaction? to just resign and go for a vaction.
You can always go on vacation when you have Games In Progress. That is what it is for. You can play them when you come back.
I think the issue prashanth21 is referring to may be with the requirement to have no pending moves before you can turn vacation on, not necessarily to have completed your games.
I think it's a problematic restriction, actually. I can see why it's there, but if you have a lot of games and many of your opponents are online (or have conditional moves) it could prove impossible to clear all of your games. I think you should actually be able to turn on vacation for games in which it is not your move immediately, and to have the rest of your games immediately go into vacation mode as soon as you've made your move in each of them.
Thanks TheGrobe for uderstanding my problem, when will these chess.com staff understand.
@ chrish
It is a wished option yes!
But for you this is what i do, i select with the mouse all the moves from the 'moves tab' en then paste that into my notes.
you got then nicely all moves (missing the space between end of move and next move number)
The bad thing of that is you still place the moves yourself, and can not paste it back later.
Hope this will help in the meantime
