This site hasn't been up for two years yet, but the name chess.com has been with erik and his team a lot longer than this site has been up. Some people aquire a website name ages before actually putting the website online.
The domain name chess.com has been in use for years, but up until Jan of '06, it was in use by other people. Erik bought the name in Jan of 2006.
