How old were you when you starded playing chess?

I played my first somewhat proper game of chess, where I understood all the rules at the age of 24 (first time playing online) about three years ago. I did play some random games against friends and relatives as a kid, but we didn't really know stuff like castling, en passant or the fact that pawn can promote to any piece (or there can be multiple queens). I did start to practice more or less seriously right after I started playing online though.
Started at 8. Best in the extended family by 12 (figure 800 strength). Hit 1400 by 17. Hit 1700 by 20. Hit 2100 by 28. Drastically reduced studying/improving after marriage.

18. My initial rating was 400. It remained like that for a year. My peak rating was 2075. My greatest achievements, beating a FM and a NM in chess games.
Never had tutors. Never read books. Only openings I saw YouTube videos of are from white :Italian game, fried liver and morphy attack, maxLange attack. And from black : Evans gambit, traxler counter attack, nimzowitch defense.
I only saw some clips of them and those clips weren’t even that detailed.
Other openings, I still don't know if I'm right or wrong but I learned from trial and error.
Only good thing I did was that I watched a lot of games of masters from database. From the oldest chess matches to 1990 and a lot of matches of magnus. I learned a lot of patterns from watching their games.
In my life, I have played over 10,000 games. (Not including bullet because I don't play bullet cause I suck at it. My mouse game is weak lol) Also, I watch a lot of banter blitz and videos of Ben finegold. And chess fundamentals of John Bartholomew.

Well, before i was borned, my mom and dad used to recite notation to me. It made me really calm and sleepy. Funny how it still works. But i didn’t stard until I was about 12ish i guess. Defiantly before i learnt to spel.

5th grade. Was obsessed for 1 year; made it 1200. Quit for 1.5 years. Got back into game at the end of quarantine because I was bored of video games. Rating skyrocketed to 1700.

My Dad taught me at eleven yrs of age because that’s when I decided to find out about it. He had a nice marble board and pieces and it was always displayed in the living room, but, my interest began when I was that age.

Right on ! Enjoy the great game !
There’s even a 4 player version here, extremely fun but first gain some more experience, or if you’re to decide to try it out first YouTube on how to play, watch some that show where best to start for positioning and tactics. You have regulars there that radar in on all newbies because their king is +20 and the most points wins, and that kind of has made ones who first try it out not very happy with it, since they’re worked quick if they don’t know what to do.
But if you take my advice it can dramatically improve your lol single day of play..... no, lmao I’m only saying that because well you just joined, but for regular chess players to play, it increases their regular skills, due the more going on with double the pieces and more vast board, to see more opened to take for options, and the set time given, with even a 15 second delay before time of a minute to begin each move, it all helps with your regular chess, and as well so does 960 variation, that’s all I now will play regarding regular chess, with so many silly cheaters =/ using engines, so I now only will 960 it or 4 player.
