Offensive and aggressive chat

I agree with you completely. While a little bit of fun and banter is nice on the threads during game play people ought to learn a few manners.

I had one telling me to resign the other day when I was down a piece. Needless to say when he lost the game he disabled his chat! Lol

.....wait.. I thought in settings there’s an option to disable permanently chat in games.

...I’m to brb with if it is so...

....okay.. In settings options there’s one for Live chess happy.png

"Noobs looser"

are just some of the insults I face while the play is on! Sadly chess.com doesn't do anything even if you report. In the mobile app, you still see the chat in the pop-up even if you don't accept chat.

Can the chess.com give us the option to permanently disable chat?!! I had closed my older account previously because of this. This I will do so again, as chess.com promotes this kind of abuse and doesn't care for fair players!

none of them are insults though really are they. Nothing to cry about at all son, just calm down.

They never did. I lost over 100 points because of this! They never take any action. Being a paying member, why should I tolerate such abuse?

How do you lose 100 points because of this? Even if the site banned every player you report, you’ll still run into new ones. You shouldn’t allow yourself to be affected by it in any way (I find it hilarious when someone gets riled up enough to send such a message). Or just turn off chat lol.

not only on the app, on the website too.

I agree in football the crowds are very loud

In chess you can't say anything other then "j'adoube" and "draw?"

Besides turning off the chat, you can block the guys, preventing them from playingplaying vs you again. And report them.

Right, because calling someone an idiot is apparently not an insult anymore.

The chess app has a glitch, even if you turn off the chat, it is visible as a pop up. How do I lose these 100 points? Mainly in blitz, when the other guys continuously starts abusing when they are losing. Causing me to loose concentration. You are a CM and you think this is acceptable behavior? Chess is not football!

I don't think that anywhere I said it's acceptable behaviour? I was just pointing out that reporting/muting/banning players you've encountered is all well and good, but there'll always be an endless supply of keyboard trolls - this is the internet. In which case, you can either choose to let it affect you or not (i choose the latter, doesn't bother me at all).

If there’s a bug in the app that doesn't allow you to turn off chat, that sounds worth investigating (or you can turn on kid mode lol)
